Yes, Kaleidoscope is compatible with Mac OS 8. In fact, Kaleidoscope hooks into the Appearance Manager so that any Appearance-savvy application automatically uses Kaleidoscope's colors. In other words, not only does Kaleidoscope patch the window borders, but in Appearance-savvy applications, it also set the colors for the window backgrounds, text, bevels, group boxes, dividers, etc. You can see this in action in the Finder's dialog boxes, as well as in the Appearance and Date & Time control panels. (If a control panel or application does not use Kaleidoscope's colors, then it probably is not yet Appearance-savvy.)
There are still some things that need to be addressed: spinning zoom rectangles, Finder window title bar icons, the “Use Label Color” option, and the System 7 color scheme do not yet work; we have not yet patched the pop-up windows (a.k.a. tabbed windows), bevel buttons (used in Finder list view column headers), or tabs; and the Appearance Manager overrides the WindowShade sounds. However, none of these problems should prevent you from being able to use Kaleidoscope under Mac OS 8, and we hope to take care of these details soon.
